Key data: 38 residential units Net usable floor area: ca. 3,800 m² The response to the extremely heterogeneous appearance of this part of Stadlau takes the form of a homogenous volume – an elongated curved building that mediates in terms of scale between its very different neighbours.
Instead of the obvious solution of a small main façade along Hausgrundweg and a long garden façade towards the east, a more generous option is chosen – a single long façade that curves softly around the corner. This can respond in terms of scale to the powerful buildings to the south.
The comb-like structure directly meets the fire walls of the neighbouring buildings, creating four introverted courtyards. The building, which is completely rendered, rises up at the entrance area, creating room for the communal facilities that are made of hard, low maintenance materials (glass, metal, ceramic).
