The existing building in no way fully exploits the urban potential of the fire station site. The new building not only provides a new appearance but, through the addition of a museum, also introduces a new function for the old fire station.
The new building offers a chance to create a contemporary form that represents the importance and the social dimension of a fire station today. The goal of this project is to create out of the heterogeneous existing building a visual and functional unity that can accept its role in the urban context while also meeting the daily demands made on it.
