The goal of this competition project is the creation of a dense, urban and yet thoroughly residential city district with a neighborhood center that is integrated in the housing development. A pedestrian axis will lead from Neuschönau across the new Enns footbridge through the Reithoffergründe, the future neighborhood center and via an inviting ascent to the Aignergründe as far as Leopold Werndl Strasse and beyond. The culture building should be suitably integrated in the future neighborhood center. This project exploits the specific contours above the river Enns to establish a development structure that despite its considerable density is integrated in its surroundings. This development structure connects the notion of the urban with the quality of the place. The highpoint is provided by the geological force of the river Enns as the creator of a special topography. The heights of the new development are based on changes of level in the terrain that overlap around the field of tension of the new neighborhood center to expose a cross-section of the building. Here urban components and the space around the Enns overlap like a geological profile that makes the history of the landscape understandable.
