Expert's process 1st prize In 1989 large areas of riparian woods and water meadows along the Danube to the east of Vienna were threatened with destruction by plans to build a hydroelectric power station on the river. Demonstrations and the occupation of the woods led to questioning the idea of the power plant and ultimately to the establishment of a national park there. This is an achievement of civil courage and therefore the pavilions present themselves proudly as signs in the landscape. A sign that focuses, provides shelter, marks the boundaries, and slows down the pace at which people move, making them sensitive to new experiences. Client: Partners: |
