The intention is to provide Linz with a new landmark. The tradition of Linz as Austria's city of design is to be developed further and provided with a new home. Trade fair halls, a hotel as well as a convention and conference center form the core of this mega project. Our design proposes a huge inclined slab containing the garage. This formal and functional device forms the backbone of the building. On the one hand it gives back open space to the city for future use, on the other hand it serves as the horizontal and vertical circulation spine of the project. Excerpt from an article in the newspaper Oberoesterreichische Nachrichten from Feb. 7, 1989: "Linz cannot afford the most sensational and outstanding project".
