Base data:
The two staircases are glazed towards public space across their entire width. The elevator does not travel in a shaft but in a void. This not only ensures generous amounts of light but also creates an attractive circulation space. In the entrance area emphasis is placed on keeping the view of the garden unblocked, this visual link is also expressed by the two-story glazing to the courtyard. The bicycle rooms are sensibly accessed from the street (and are through-spaces). The voids do not merely end with bridges or catwalks but are clearly shaped and terminated by means of the two dormers. Here the volume is broken, the roof skin is folded upwards and a striking silhouette is created. At the entrance, accompanying the visual axis towards the garden is the communal room that can be used in a variety of ways thanks to its entrance situation. As it is equipped with a cooking niche and wet rooms it is independent. The communal room has an exit into the part of the garden that can be used by all. The visual heart of the complex is the outdoor space, all the spaces relate to it. Here a high degree of design quality is applied to articulate the "soft facts" of the building as attractively as possible. A homogeneous volume with a clear eaves line and clearly cut firewalls respond to the extremely heterogeneous appearance of this section of Donaufelderstrasse. The material (aluminium with horizontal seams) helps to unify the volume and continues the envelope as a roof to the pergola on the garden side. There the volume is broken up and, in a logical development, is opened to the inner courtyard. Here the material becomes softer (render). The articulation on Donaufelderstrasse has a strongly horizontal quality with the aim of extending the ordering system as far as possible and thus to provide the surroundings with a calm, ordered component.
